Act Today to Help Protect Oregon's Water
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.

Help pass SB 788 and SB 740
Adequate funding of the Water Resources Department is critical to the proper management of our rivers, streams and underground aquifers.
Two critical bills to ensure adequate funding for the Water Resources Department will be heard on Tuesday, June 2nd, as will the WRD budget.
As a constituent, I urge you to support two bills:
SB 788: This bill would establish a $250 recording fee for certain exempt groundwater wells. Monies generated from this fee would benefit users, as they must be used to fund groundwater studies, monitor ground water, and to administer and enforce exempt well laws.
SB 740: This bill would charge a modest fee to holders of water rights to help recoup part of the expense of managing the system of water rights in Oregon.
Your message will be sent to each of the following targets:

A sample message appears below, which you may edit before sending.
Please Support SB 788 and 740, with amendments Dear Representative,
The Water Resources Department is excessively dependent on the General Fund. It is facing a large budget shortfall that, without action, will result in the loss of important water management capacities. Reasonable new fees and a higher margin of cost recovery on existing water transactions could help close the gap and preserve services critical to good water management in the state.
Adequate funding for the Water Resources Department is critical to proper management of the state's water. Please support SB 788 and SB 740, with amendments and 75% cost recovery for processing services. Your name and address here
