Take Action - Help Oregon Implement Global Warming Solutions
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.
Take action now to urge the legislature to pass Oregon's Healthy Climate Package which will reduce global warming pollution, create good, local jobs and produce a prosperous, clean energy economy for Oregon's future.
Send a letter to your state Senator and Representative today and urge them to pass Oregon's Healthy Climate Package.
This will be one of the most critical issues the legislature addresses this session and we need to let the legislature know that the smartest move Oregon can make for our economy and every Oregonian is to cap global warming pollution and invest in our future.
- Capping global warming pollution means putting a ceiling, or cap, on global warming pollution. Creating a statewide "budget" for pollution is the best way to measure our progress and make adjustments on the road to meeting Oregon's climate protection goals
- We can leave better communities for our children by investing now in generating our own renewable energy, increasing efficiency in homes and buildings, and providing better transportation options. These investments also create good, local family wage jobs which is critical for Oregon's economy.
- We can't afford to sit on the sidelines. We have the responsibility to act now. Passing the Healthy Climate Package this year is our state's best opportunity to shift away from expensive, dirty coal and foreign oil and position Oregon to compete in the fast-growing global market for green technology and clean, secure energy.

Dear Representative,
As a constituent, I urge action to reduce global warming pollution this session.
As a member of the 2009 Legislature, it is extremely important that you work with your colleagues to place a mandatory, declining cap on global warming pollution. It is also critical that you provide direction to state agencies on how the State, its citizens and its businesses can take actions to meet the cap. You must also pass laws to increase energy efficiency and promote green building, which will create family-wage jobs, help us achieve energy independence, and protect our families.
The challenge of reducing Oregon's contribution to global warming pollution is too large and too important for us to wait any longer. Action must be taken this session.
